2016 Scholarship Awards Night was a bigger success

Our second year scholarship program has been a bigger success than 2015! Thanks to all our donors, participants, judges, musicians and volunteers.
This year we selected eight finalists from a total of 80 pre-screened participants, among which we had 3 instrumentalists! Like in 2015, Mr. Pratap Roy, the renowned accordionist and chief judge offered to teach “free” to help the “scholars” going forward. All the eight finalists, in addition to the cash awards, will also be getting special coaching free of cost for the year 2016.

Here is a link to All India Radio’s coverage of the scholarship event. The All India Radio’s audio broadcast was recorded live and then converted into a video clip by two separate volunteers. We thanks them both!

Our First year’s Scholarship Auditions are complete. More than sixty (60) pre-screened (by local schools and organizations) candidates from as far as Purulia, Bolpur and Suri came to Salt Lake for the auditions. Students from various backgrounds made the two days very colorful and humming. One judge summarized it very well… “we had two days of musical picnic”!!

A few photos are posted for your eyes! The finalists will be announced within the next 3 days!

Finals will be held on Januray 15, 2015 at Gyan Manch. The winners will be announced and scholarships will be awarded on the same day.

After First day’s auditions

First day’s audition went pretty well! The judges were very friendly. The most impressive fact was that they were trying to get the best out of the kids! One of the kids invited the judges to visit her home . The judges almost unanimously said “gaan sonabi?” (Will you sing for us??).

Tomorrow’s auditions will start at 10A.M. We will update once the judges pick the finalists!!

Our Judges Announced

Our First Kolkata auditions start in less than 48 hours. Mr. Kajal Sengupta, Mr. Gora Gupta, Mrs. Mita Kundu and Mr. Pinaki Bose will be the judges for the auditions.
Bebi Da (Mr. Pratap Roy) has graciously accepted to be the Chief Judge for the 15th. January, 2015 Finals and awards ceremony to be held at Gyan Manch, Kolkata.
